‘ബക്കറ്റ് സ്നാനം’ കോവിഡ് സുരക്ഷ മുൻനിർത്തി; ക്ഷമാപണം നടത്തി റവ. പോൾ തങ്കയ്യ

ബാംഗ്ലൂർ: അസംബ്ലീസ് ഓഫ് ഗോഡ് കർണാടക-ഗോവ സൂപ്രണ്ട് റവ. പോൾ തങ്കയ്യ നേതൃത്വം നല്കുന്ന എഫ്.ജി.എ.ജി ൽ നടന്ന ‘ബക്കറ്റ് സ്നാനം’ വിവാദത്തിൽ. സാമൂഹിക മാധ്യമങ്ങളിലൂടെ ഫോട്ടോകൾ പ്രചരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതോടെയാണ് സംഭവം വിവാദമായത്. 

എന്നാൽ പാസ്റ്റർ പോൾ തങ്കയ്യ പൊതുസഭയോട് ക്ഷമാപണവും വിശദീകരണവും അറിയിച്ചു. സ്നാനത്തിനു വേണ്ടി കാത്തിരുന്ന അനേകർക്കായ് നടത്തപ്പെട്ട സ്നാന ശുശ്രുഷ കോവിഡ് പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ ആയതുകൊണ്ട് ജനത്തിൻ്റെ സുരക്ഷ മുൻനിർത്തിയാണ് ഇങ്ങനെയൊരു പ്രവർത്തിക്ക് മുതിർന്നത് എന്ന് പാസ്റ്റർ തൻ്റെ പ്രസ്താവനയിൽ അറിയിച്ചു.

ഈ വിഷയം അനേകർക്ക് വേദനയായി എന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നു എന്നും, നീണ്ട 40 വർഷമായ് അസംബ്ലീസ് ഓഫ് ഗോഡ് സമൂഹത്തിൽ നില്ക്കുന്ന താൻ ഉപദേശപരമായ വിഷയങ്ങൾക്ക് ഇതുവരെ അയവുവരുത്തിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് പാസ്റ്റർ പോൾ കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു. ഇനി ഒരിക്കലും ഇങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കാതിരിക്കാൻ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം അറിയിച്ചു.

Respected Leaders of the Assemblies of God,

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The last baptism service we had in our church was on 5th December 2020. Eversince, there have been many people requesting for baptism. To add to that, during the recent lockdown there were many who accepted Christ and they were also asking for baptism. 

In keeping with the need we planned for our Baptism Service not expecting 275 people to come today for baptism.

I had decided to pour water from a bucket on each of them individually due to the strict government restrictions imposed because of covid. I could not endanger the lives of those who came by getting them into the same tank of water one after another with the dangerous and fast spread of covid.

After our Bible College graduation on 23rd March 2020, with a large crowd of people who attended taking photos together, 4 of our graduates died due to covid out of the 53 who succumbed to it from our church. 

I was very worried and was only thinking of the safety of the people who had come so eagerly to be baptized. Even while pouring water, I ensured that the individual was fully immersed with water.

I realize that many of our esteemed leaders have been hurt by my action. I have been in the Assemblies of God for over 40 years and I have never compromised on our doctrines. I have held and will continue to hold on to the principles we follow and never go against it.

As such I would like to apologize for my action and ensure you that this will not happen again.
